Device (固有霊装, Debaisu) is an ability used by Blazers.
Devices are weapons used by Blazers. They are the materialization of a Blazer's soul as a weapon to be used in battle. A Device can take different forms and abilities depending on the Blazer themselves. In the past, Devices were known for items such as “Holy Sword”, “Demon Bow”, “Cursed Tool”, “Blessed Tool” etc. Devices can range from simple weapons such as swords or spears to more modern weapons such as firearms and chainsaws. Devices can even take the form of other types of objects that are related to their abilities; such as Sara Bloodlily's Device being a palette and paint brush.
Devices are very sturdy and can withstand a great deal of damage without bending or breaking. However, in rare cases where they do break, the damage would affect the Blazer as well because Devices are connected to the Blazers soul. This usually leads to the Blazer losing consciousness. As well, the limit of how many Devices a Blazer can summon is different from person to person. While most can summon one or two of their respected Device's, some can summon multiple copies.
A Device can take either an <Illusionary Form> for practice or mock battles or <Real Form> for real battles. Device's in Illusionary Form can't cause any physical damage to people, instead, they damage the target's stamina. This is why Illusionary Form is used during mock battles and when a Blazer isn't trying to kill someone or just not being allowed to kill. Although Illusionary Form can't kill someone, an overwhelming enough attack can put someone into a comatose state.
A Device also serves as a medium for Blazers to use to use their Noble Arts (伐刀絶技, Nōburuātsu), which are the manifestation of the Blazers' abilities. Some Devices can even have abilities as well for the Blazer to make uses of. A prime example being Kuraudo Kurashiki's Orochimaru which can extend and move at will. While it rare, its possible for a person's Device to change or evolve. This is because a Device reflects the Blazers inner spirit and everything about them. Therefore, if the Blazer completely "rebuilds" them self, their Device will change as well. This also includes how many of their Devices they can summon and the size of the device.
